Female Mutants

This is a short form of an animation piece inspired by David Cronenberg's feature films "Dead Ringers" and "Stereo." In making "Female Mutants," we fashioned two clay models after Christ and The Devil. We took 35mm black and white photos from a book called "Menstrual Disorders and Sterility" written in the 1920's by Mazer and Israel. We painted the models in liquid light emulsion fluid and exposed the models to light while printing the photos directly on the models. Then we painted a surreal world in which the models live and love. The Christ figure and The Devil make love while segments from "Menstrual Disorders and Sterility" are read aloud. In the background you'll hear surrealist noise music.
