- I am sorry to say that I can't make it to Horrorfind
this year... ;(. The next Convention I will be at , unless it's in California
( I will be at the Shriekfest Film festival, Screamfest, and Shockerfest),
will be Ghengis Con in Pennsylvania. I am just burnt on conventions,
and I actually have a project i am working on...
- That project is: I am writing a book on female horror
film directors. It's quite a task, consisting mostly of watching horror
films all day and them writing about them all night, in between doing
interviews for the book and then all the regular interviews I do, but
it's coming together nicely. If you're an indie filmmaker, and a woman
who directed a project, i have probably already gotten in touch with
you. If I haven't, and you want to be a part of the book, let me know.
i am seeking to interview women directors from every type of horror;
mainsteam to indie short.
- That aside, I have gotten into yoga lately and gained ten pounds.
I think all the weight is muscle, but i am not sure. it feels like muscle,
but can one get muscle from yoga? I do the same crap at the gym as I
used to so it can't be that. Anyway, I am also on this new diet where
I eat every three hours.. that may have something to do with the ten
pounds, yes? Also, I made a kiesh for the first time the other day and
it was very good. I have no idea how to make kiesh, but I pretended,
and it worked. I also want to mention that it was a low-fat, low-cholesterol
kiesh. (Give me a break, i live in california). How boring am I? sorry
to babble like that.
- Bringing me back to Ghengis Con: www.ghengisconpa.com
is where the first annual Pretty/Scary awards will be held for excellence
in filmmaking. If you are interested in submitting to the film fest
(which is free, no submission free, and women filmmakers are eligible
only) please go to the ghengis con website and check it out.
- I updated my personal website www.thehorrorpost.com
and added a new picture and a new man of the moment. You can read all
my latest reviews there as well.
www.pretty-scary.net is featuring The Spierig Brothers, Peter and
Michael (who made UNDEAD) as Scary Studs of the Month. We've extended
female horror directors month into August, so come visit us and learn
about some films that never get talked about.
- Look for articles from me in the next issues os Sirens of Cinema
www.sirensofcinema.com,
Haunted Times Magazine www.hauntedtimes.com,
Zink Magazine www.zinkmag.com,
and Red Scream www.redscream.com.
I have articles in all of them.

The LIving and The Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:::::::::::::::::
Speakeasy
Comics is promoting their October release of the original horror graphic
novel, THE LIVING AND THE DEAD (AUG053107), with an online trailer and
a preview of the first eleven pages of the book - both of which can
be found at www.thelivingandthedead.com. Written by Todd Livingston
and Robert Tinnell, creators of THE BLACK FOREST and THE WICKED WEST,
and drawn by MIcah Farritor, the 128 page book has a cover price of
$14.99 and is featured in the August PREVIEWS.
Said Tinnell, "It's become a tradition with us to create online
trailers for our books. I can't quantify how well they work as a sales
tool - but they are a lot of fun to put together. We're extra lucky
- not only does Andy Kubiszewski always jump up to deliver brilliant
scores (he's our ringer - Andy was in STABBING WESTWARD among other
bands and currently scores several television shows) but our letterer/art
director, Mike Anderson, is pretty gifted with Flash. We wanted a trailer
that played like one of those cool ones you'd see for foreign language
films- and boy, did he deliver."
Livingston added, "We're particularly excited by David J. Skal
("Hollywood Gothic," "The Monster Show") writing
the Afterword for the book! It's a real honor and adds to the package
immeasurably!"
THE LIVING AND THE DEAD (AUG053107) You are a simple, country doctor
in a small village. You have a beautiful wife and a wonderful son -
the perfect life. Only they don't know that in your past, you did a
very bad thing! People died because of it, and you were forced to flee
and live incognito. Now, in an opportunity to redeem yourself, you unwittingly
unleash a brutal and perverse murderer, a deviant sociopath hell bent
on using innocent people in a Grand Guignol of flesh and blood - a veritable
nineteenth-century snuff theater. You alone can end his reign of sick
terror - but at the risk of revealing your secret past and losing everything
you love. Only you don't know what's worse - what you've created - or
what you have to do to stop him!
Look for it in October!

Cinema Wasteland Expo to Screen "Slaughter Disc"::::
Steel
Web Studios is pleased to announce that our debut feature film, "Slaughter
Disc: A Tale from the Carnal Morgue", will be screened at the upcoming
Cinema Wasteland Expo in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Cinema Wasteland Drive-In Movie and Memorabilia Expo will run from
September 30th to October 2nd 2005. Featured guests include Director
and Makeup Artist Tom Savini, Sid Haig from Rob Zombie's House of 1000
Corpses and Devil's Rejects, and numerous other actors, writers and
directors from cinematic history. For a more information about the Expo,
including additional events and featured guests, interested parties
can log onto http://www.cinemawasteland.com
or email info@cinemawasteland.com
Slaughter Disc is the first in a series of films produced by Steel
Web Studios for The Carnal Morgue anthology of erotic horror films.
Critics have hailed Slaughter Disc as "Slick and Spooky",
and "one of the most original independent horror films to come
out in a long while". The story of Slaughter Disc focuses on Mike,
a pornography addict who doesn't realize how bad his addition is. As
his life falls apart around him a mysterious DVD arrives in the mail
and soon Mike discovers that there is a much darker side to the world
of xxx entertainment. Adult film actress Caroline Pierce plays the role
of the deviant Andromeda Strange, a zombie porn star hell-bent on leaving
a path of gore and destruction in her wake. Slaughter Disc features
graphic violence, gore and hardcore sex too explicit for audiences less
than 18 years of age.
About Steel Web Studios
Steel Web Studios is a producer of independent films based out of a
small studio in sunny San Diego. Slaughter Disc, our feature-film debut
and first Tale from the Carnal Morgue, has won widespread international
critical acclaim since it's premiere in March 2005. Fans of the
film can look forward to more twisted tales of macabre erotica from
The Carnal Morgue in the months to follow.
