What can one say about Jorg Buttgereit's NEKRomantik 2, other than it was another sequel that didn't need to be made?

The story is basically about Monika's (played by Monika M.) internal struggle between her necrophilia tendencies and the possibility of living love. The film begins with the recap of the ending to NEKRomantik, Rob's suicide, intercut with shots of Monika digging up Rob's grave and taking him home. After some mediocre sensual scenes with the body, she happens to meet a living man who dubs sound for low-grade porn videos. They go on a few dates, and he seems to start to realize that Monika isn't your typical girl. The best scene is the last, lots of blood and sex, etc.

I was quite disappointed by this sequel, not that I was expecting much, but I had still hoped it would be worth watching. Buttgereit seemed to just be trying to remake his first installment, but with a worse story line, less sensuality, slower rhythm, and by using parallel 'shock' scenes. After watching the first film, the seal scene wasn't that big of a deal compared to the rabbit scene in NEKRomantik. The sexual scenes were very weak in comparison, as well. Like I've already stated, the only scene really worth watching is the last scene between Monika and her new beau. This scene is what earned the second skull on my rating. Without it, I would have given NEKRomantik 2 only one skull.

Overall rating for NEKRomantik 2 is 2 out of 5 skulls. My advice is to watch the first, and forget the second.
